Dorothy J. (Martin) LaHue, long time resident of Villa Pueblo, passed away, Oct. 19, 2018. Dorothy was the daughter of Colorado Springs pioneers, Glen Eyrie Martin and Hazel A (Weidemier) Martin who were associated with General William Palmer at the Glen Eyrie Estate. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Ernest A. LaHue, her parents, and her 3 sisters. Dorothy leaves behind son Steven M. LaHue (Martha Jean), daughter Margaret J. Samuelsen, grandchildren, Grant E. Samuelsen (Amy), Karen J. Samuelsen, Glen E. LaHue, great grandchild Stella Dorothy Samuelsen, and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, gardening, arts and crafts, community service, and travel with her husband and family. Dorothy was an active contributor (volunteer) to the Villa Pueblo, the Church of Ascension and the community. She was especially proud of her civic accomplishments: Thatcher School PTA president, Brownie Scout leader, Red Cross, Gray Ladies, Planned Parenthood President, and her church ministries which include Rectors Guild, Altar Guild, choir mother, nursery mother, and Alter Guild at the Parkview Hospital Chapel. Dorothy will be missed by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to thank the staff of Villa Pueblo and the Sangre De Cristo Hospice and Palliative Care for the loving care she received. Memorials may be made sent to the Pueblo Episcopal Church of Ascension, 420 W. 18th, Pueblo, CO 81003, or the Sangre De Cristo Hospice and Palliative Care, 1207 Pueblo Blvd. Way, Pueblo, CO, 81005.     Dorothy has been in my thoughts and prayers. I will miss her genuine love and kindness she gave to me. I enjoyed caring for her. She was a gem.

  2. She was an amazing lady. I am very great full to have met Dorothy and help with her care. She will be greatly missed. So sorry for your loss may God bless you and your family in your time of need.
