Doris Cherry, 93, left this life to a new life in Heaven on Aug. 4, 2017, She was born in Sumner, Neb. to Fred and Ada Kutsch. Preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Sandra. Doris is survived by her husband of 74 years, Joseph; son, Richard (Joan); grandchildren, Dusty Smith and John (Kristen); great-grandchildren, Marshall, Tanner, Kneesa, McKenna and Morgan; and great-great grandchildren, Raelynn and Remington. Doris was always a behind-the-scenes person who worked to make things better for those around her. She enjoyed a variety of crafts and knitted nearly100 afghan blankets for friends and family. Two of those blankets won ribbons at the Colorado State Fair. Doris served her Lord and Savior in many ways, mostly beside her husband in churches wherever they lived. Together they served as managers at the Ponderosa Baptist Assembly, and for five years as food service manager at Glorietta Assembly in New Mexico. Viewing, 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel.
