Donald 'Don' J. Owens, passed on to the Lord's cattle drive in the sky on May 1, 2016. Born August 23, 1938. Preceded in death by parents, Guy Francis and Anna Mae (Kelly) Owens; sisters, Theresa and Kayleen. Survived by his wife of 52 years, Winnie; children, Zane Owens and Rochelle Harmon; sisters, Patricia and Jacque; brothers, Charles, Francis, Bob and Johnny. Don and Winnie moved to Rye Feb. 12, 1966. Don grew up ranching and studied electrical engineering, served as Sheriff's Deputy from 1974 to 1976, 35 years as a volunteer with Rye Fire Protection District and finished his career at CF&I as an electrician, retiring after 15 years. Viewing at 12 p.m. (noon) followed by the service at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Valley Community Church, 4253 Mercantile St., Colorado City. Reception to follow service.
