Donald E. Coy, 85, passed away peacefully after a long illness at his home April 16, 2007, in Rye, Colo. Donald was born July 3, 1921, to Nolan and Cleo Coy in Fleming, Colo. An infant son, Darrel; parents; and sister, Dolores Hasquet, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy; daughter, Karen (Bill) Synder; four grandchildren, Yelena, Brenden, Val, and Katya; a nephew, nieces and cousins. Donald graduated from Fleming High School, Colorado State University (Aggies), and Purdue University. He was a registered Professional Engineer in Colorado. Donald was a veteran of World War II in the European and North African theatres, Korean Conflict, and Vietnam. He retired from the US Air Force in 1968, after 23 years active duty. During active duty, Donald received numerous honors, medals, and awards. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service, 10 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2007, at Valley Community Church in Colorado City, where Donald was a founding member of the church. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Mesa, Ariz. In lieu of food and flowers, those who desire may make memorials to Valley Community Church, Colorado City (81019) or Sangre de Cristo Hospice, Walsenburg, Colo.
