Dona was such a bright, giving, loving and caring person. I can’t imagine Rye High School or the Greenhorn valley without her. She touched hundreds and hundreds of lives with her genuine, caring smile, enthusiasm, and support. I wish I could have made the trip back to Colorado for her memorial service, but please know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers as is Dona.

  6. I had the privilege of meeting Dona when I worked at Rye High. I met her in 1999 when I started working at the High School. Although, I was only there for 2 years, Dona made an indelible imprint on my life. As was stated so often at her memorial service, she was a friend to all. Her smile was infectious and her caring personality will be a constant source of inspiration to me. As I was driving to the service, from Aurora, I was thinking about her “bug” and wondering if she still had it. What a wonderful surprise to see it when I walked up to the school entrance. It brought a smile to my face, just like all of the memories I have of her. I want to extend my heartfelt condolences to all of her family. Sincerely, Renee Dwyer

  7. An icon of our valley has passed now into legend, where her memory will grow ever fonder through the stories told of her by those who loved her best. She was a kind soul, and an anchor for many.
