Derald Duane Portenier, 83, passed away peacefully at his home on Mar. 22, 2016, with his loving wife by his side. Preceded in death by his children, James and Pamela; and brother Wayne. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Loretta; daughters, Marti and Pauli; grandchildren, Holly, Andrew, Tyler, Adam and Hannah; three great-grandchildren; and siblings, Eva Jean Clark, Darlene Heaton, Ronnie Portenier and Carol Horn. Derald was born to Ernie and Reva Portenier in Phillips County, Kans., joined the military and eventually became a skilled homebuilder and craftsman. He loved building things and took great pride in his work, but more importantly in his family. Derald was truly a self-made man that embraced a challenge, whether physically or intellectually. His commitment to family, work ethic and sense of humor will be missed. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium.
