David Madison Carlock, 70, was born on October 16, 1953, in Pueblo, Colo., and went to be with Lord on February 11, 2024.
David was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cary and Vella Herndon, and Ralph and Mildred Carlock; parents, Norman and Della Carlock; parents-in-law, Dobbie and Dee Stephenson; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janet; children, Darla Carlock, and Jonathan (Lisa) Carlock; grandchildren, Cole (Lexie), Rick (Isabel), Steven, Breeanna, Evan, and Bryn; great-grandsons, Timmy and Lucas; several step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Rhonda (Lee) Madison, and Trish Blackwell; extended family including Judy Stephenson, Bud Stephenson, Joyce (Jerry) Young, and Doug (Tammy) Stephenson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A lifetime resident of Pueblo, he graduated from East High School and went on to Midwest Business School. David worked at the family-owned Tastee Freez/Foods, Fountain Sand & Gravel, Santa Fe Railroad, TTC, and Deltek. He was known for his values, strong work ethic, and perseverance determined to solve whatever problem he came across.
David enjoyed playing basketball, the guitar, Dungeons and Dragons, and working on the computer. He loved to travel and was able to visit forty-nine states and three countries. David loved the Beatles, Eric Clapton, Mountain, Billy Sheehan and Stevie Ray Vaughn. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandson, brought him great joy. He remained close to his two sisters enjoying a weekly luncheon with them and his wife. He had friendships lasting over sixty years. David expressed his love with actions often without having to say a single word.
David was a member and pastor of the Community of Christ. He loved his Lord, family, and church family. David had a deep understanding of the Scriptures and lived and followed their guidance. He loved sharing Jesus and his love and belief in Jesus Christ to others who desired to converse with him. If David were to leave words for us today, they would include things like You are loved, think the best possible way or meaning in any given situation, may you be well in body, mind, and spirit, may you know Jesus Christ and find Joy, Hope, Love, and Peace.
David will be missed, yet our memories of him will keep us going, and the faith that we will be with him again in the future.
