Celebration of Life:

David Burke Rouch, 76, was born in Pueblo, on January 31, 1947 and passed away May 6, 2023. Preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Margaret Rouch. Survived by brother, Roger Rouch of Wheat Ridge; cousins, David (Leah) Wicks of Morrison, numerous most excellent friends and neighbors; and Lucy, his much-loved Bernese Mountain dog.
Dave was a 1965 graduate of Centennial High School and then from SCSC, studying social work. His first career job was in Walsenburg doing various social work duties and then a thirty-year career working for Pueblo Department of Social Services with his last assignments as a Child Protection Intake/Crisis Worker before retiring. His great joys were entertaining friends and family with his backyard swimming pool and his boat at the Pueblo Reservoir. Over the years he pampered several favorite dogs to excess and they just may be waiting at the pearly gates to greet him with happy wagging tails.
No flowers please. Memorial donations may be made to PAWS for Life or First United Methodist Church. Funeral service, 1 p.m. Thursday, May 11, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel. Interment, Roselawn Cemetery. Online condolences, www.MontgomerySteward.com

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Dave and I worked together at Pueblo Social Services. He was always a pleasure to work with even under very stressful situations. I greatly appreciated his professionalism and sense of humor.

  2. Dave welcomed my husband, Gary Thomas, and I into the neighborhood in 2017. He was such a good friend and neighbor to so many, and we all mourn him deeply. We’re so glad to have known him and his beloved Lucy. Our sincere condolences to his family.

  3. I first met Dave in 1980 when he lived in the Northridge subdivision in Pueblo. I got to help him build his first swimming pool and used to love hanging out at his place and we frequently used to go to lunch or bbq on his patio. I left for the military in the 80’s and even though I left the area would always make a point to visit him or call, text or email over the years. Dave was one of the nicest people you could ever meet and I have some great memories of the pool, boating at Pueblo reservoir, and the Fourth of July fireworks. I was absolutely devastated to hear of his passing. I had the pleasure of knowing Dave’s parents and all the neat friends that Dave had. He will be sorely missed.

  4. Dear Dave, it was a pleasure working with you for 30 yrs. We also shared some enjoyable times together. You fought the fight and now you are at peace. I’m sure all the doggies you’ve had were there to great you in heaven .
    God Bless you,
    Ginny Burger

  5. Dave, you have been a part of our lives for 47 years. From boats and waterskiing, backyard pool fun, letting my kids have their superhero birthday parties in your backyard, a few vacations, dog stories and so much more – you were and will always be a truly dear friend. I miss you already. Life won’t be the same without you but thank you for all the memories as they will live on. A once in a lifetime friend and birthday buddy, you will always be in my heart.
    Fondly,
    Eunice

  6. My friend Dave. I will miss you but have lots of fond memories of our 30 year friendship. We had lots of laughs, good food, fun times boating at the reservoir, and gatherings outside in your backyard by the pool. I will miss our lunches and phone conversations to check in on each other about our daily lives. You fought hard and now are at peace and reunited with your family who welcomed you into heaven. Rest in peace and someday when we meet again in heaven, we will have lots to catch up on.
    Friends always,
    Stana Vivoda-Anderson
