D’Arcy Joan Purcell ~
D’Arcy died August 31, 2021 in her home in Pueblo. She entered the world on November 12, 1962 born to Allen J. and Dorothy Jo Baird of Pueblo. She is preceded in death by her father, mother, father-in-law Charles Purcell, mother-in-law Ophelia Purcell, numerous aunts and uncles, and her nephew Rusty Baird. Surviving her are her siblings Susan Brown-Sawyer (Tom); Jay Baird; Becky Stringer (Paul); Janice Otten (Chris); Jane Baird (Al); and Betsy Morris (Ryan); her brothers-in-law Chuck Purcell (Cheri) and Dennis Purcell as well as 11 nieces and nephews, and eight great-nieces and nephews.
Michael Purcell, her former husband and friend, and their two children, Meghan Ophelia Purcell and Christopher Michael Purcell, all of Pueblo, survive D’Arcy.
Her family meant the world to her. She had a wonderful sense of humor about raising children and life’s struggles. She dearly loved her children and offered them a soft place to land, always being their solid ground.
D’Arcy was an amazing preschool teacher. She adored her students and they adored her. An avid reader and book club member, she loved romance novels, and was excited to learn about how to better her very essence, always striving to attain virtues. She spent time crafting in her basement making old things into new.
This kind and gentle woman helped many get through the day. She cared about her good friends, Irene, Carol, Mike and Sue, and Vickie, along with many other friends, and her neighbor Richard.
She was, and always will be, a bright light in our hearts.
