  1. CandleImageStill all these years later, I remember Mr. Edwards as my 5th grade teacher in 2011-2012, that’s how amazing and kind he was. For the short amount of time I had the pleasure of knowing him, he surely brought joy to many! He was able to make an impact in my life during Christmas that year, as he made every one of his students a Christmas present, with 3 books and some other items, of which I still have to this day! I remember it like it was yesterday and I’m proud to say the sleighs we made that year out of popsicle sticks and paint is surely on display every year during Christmas, reminding me about the wonderful man who once walked this earth and impacted so many! Thank you Mr. Edwards! You were the best teacher I ever had! GO BRONCOS!

  2. Sorry to hear about Dan. I remember when he taught at Baxter Elementary School, my son AJ was a student there. My condolences and love. Jane Rhodes, Neil & AJ

  3. Mr. Edwards, as we called him, was a special teacher for our daughter Gwen at Vineland Elementary. We are very sorry for your loss. It’s heaven’s gain. Love for the family, Nancy, Kerry and Gwen Van Etten

  4. Mr. Edwards you were a great teacher and a great man. You were my favorite teacher of all the teachers I have had. I know you are making all the angels your delicious breakfast burritos. I will never forget you. Love, Emily

    Love, Al & Sudie Cole

  6. Dear Bonnie and Brad Edwards, We were so sorry to hear about Mr. Edwards. Just the other day we were talking about him. Ryan loved having him as his 5th grade teacher at Piggott. They shared a love of sports and Ryan so enjoyed giving him a bad time about his Broncos. Mr. Edwards was a wonderful teacher, but more than that, he was a wonderful person. We have talked about your husband and father alot during this past week. It was a huge shock to hear he had passed away. We will keep your family in our thoughts and prayers during the coming weeks as you find your way without him. Please find comfort in the love and admiration that so many people had for him. Sincerely, The Meservey Family

  7. Dear Bonnie and Brad,
I admired your husband and father. Dan had a great sense of humor. He was always up for fun. The funniest memory surrounds Mary Jo Latino. She had forgot boilng eggs on the stove and when she got home she was greeted with the smell of burnt eggs. Dan brought to school a dozen of eggs to replace her overdone eggs. When she opened the carton, it was full of chicks. He commented that the eggs were definitely overdone! He was a great teacher and an inspiration to others in the field. My prayers and thoughts will be with you at this time and in the future.

  8. I loved Mr. Edwards as my teacher last year. I am sad to hear he passed away. My brother Andre and I were looking forward to stopping by Pigott just to see him. He will live in our hearts and memory as the nicest teacher.

    Andre and Sonja Edelstein

  9. Bonny, Brad, Butch and Sherry,
Thinking of you. May it help to ease the sorrow, in your heart, in some small way, to know that our sympathetic thoughts are there with you today. So sorry for your loss.

  10. When we are fortunate enough to have someone very special, an angel really, come into our lives and touch our hearts and the souls of our children, we are truly blessed. Our family had the great honor of knowing Dan Edwards, an amazing teacher to Megan and Mallory and friend to our whole family.

You will forever have a very special place in our hearts and we know your amazing spirit will carry on in your beloved family.

Our thoughts and prayers to you, Mrs. Edwards and Brad.

  11. Dear Bonny & Brad I know it has been many years since I have seen you, but wanted to let you know I am very sorry for your loss. I always remember how nice Mr. Edwards was and how much fun we use to have when we would visit with dad. I hope God watches over you all and helps you through this great loss.

  12. Danny: A true friend of all. This man always had the time to listen or help people or students in need. I will always remember the time when I lived with Danny, while doing my student teaching at La Junta High School. My wife and I will never forget the help and support he provided. A Great teacher has gone home to the big class room in the sky. God love you Bonny and Brad

  13. I had Mr. Edwards the first year he came to Piggiott Elementary and I can say he has and always been one of my favourite teachers. He later taught my sister, Mallory and allowed me to come in and help grade papers in his class. He was always a great shoulder to lean on. Being a senior I’ve been thinking of what I want to do as a career, and as I’ve chosen education I hope to carry on Mr. Edwards legacy and be as wonderful of teacher as he was. He taught me so much in and outside of the classroom and he will always have a place in my heart. My deepest condolences.

  14. I am so sorry for the family of Mr. Edwards. My family had the great honor of knowing him at Pigott. Both my sons had him for 5th grade, Bryan (now in 9th grade) and Lucas (now in 7th grade). My daughter, Danielle is now in 5th grade. She wanted him to be her 5th grade teacher also, but he was not. They do share a July 4th birthday and she said she will always think of him on “their” day. Not many teachers will always be remembered by their students as a GREAT teacher, but I KNOW that Mr. Edwards will be! G-d bless all of you at this time and please know that there are so many people here that loved him!

He was an excellent, kind, fair, and humorous teacher and friend. I will always remember his unique teaching style and his wonderful narration of stories; James and the Giant Peach and Old Yeller in particular!
