Charles S. Pettit, 81, passed away May 3, 2011. Survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Pettit; children, George (Diane) Pettit, Dann (Lela) Pettit and Anna Lou (Gregg) White; daughter-in-law, Libby Pettit; sister, Sally (Roger) Maggart; grandchildren, Chip Pettit, Ellen Salazar, Dustin White, Cindy Sharkey, Sheri Pettit, Rodney Pettit and Robert Pettit; and six great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his son, Steven Pettit; parents, George and Marguerite Pettit; sister, Susan Pratt; and brother-in-law, Earl Pratt. Charles was born Sept. 29, 1929, in Denver, and moved to Pueblo in 1933. He graduated from Centennial High School in 1946, attended PCC and CU Boulder. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Charles and Mary were married Oct. 20, 1951, in Roy, N.M. Charles was a Prudential Insurance agent and was the owner and operator of Valley Claims Service. Most recently, he worked for the trucking industry as an insurance risk manager, retiring in 1999. Charles enjoyed golf, fishing, camping, barbeques, and gardening his roses and vegetable garden. Most of all, he loved his family. There will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service, 2 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2011, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Rick Calhoun officiating. The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorials may be made to Pikes Peak Junior Golf Program through Montgomery & Steward Funeral Directors, 1317 N. Main St., Pueblo, CO 81003.     I am so sory to hear of Charles’ passing. He was one of my favorite Dialysis patients. I will think of him and miss him always. You are a wonderful family and I am honored to have known you. God Bless

  3. My condolences Anna Lou, I’m so sorry for the loss of your father. I know how hard this is as I have walked this same path in 2003. I was told time will heal. It is still hard at times but I’ll always cherish my memories. My thoughts & prayers are with you and your family. My condolences especially go to your mom, may God Bless her with His strength.
