Charles Ray Peterson began his earthly journey Dec. 24, 1925, in Fort Collins, Colo. His eternal life began at 12:36 p.m. June 29, 2016, in Pueblo, Colo., surrounded by loving family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Lillian and A.J. Peterson; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lizzie and Phillip Runco; son, Phillip Daniel Peterson; sisters, Irene Droz and Wanda Farris; sister-in-law, Doris Runco; brother-in-law, Guy Runco. Charlie leaves to cherish his memory, his soulmate and wife of 70 years, Susie (Mary Runco); loving and devoted daughter, Patricia Retzlaff; grandchildren, Shawn Peterson, Michelle Van Hee, and Shea (Xanthe) Peterson; great-grand-children, Noah Van Hee, Courtney and Daniel Peterson, Lila Sophia Peterson and Frey Peterson; sister, Geneva John-son; sister-in-law, Dorothy Runco; friend and brother-in-law, Nick Run-co; Sandra (Steve) Bourell and Carole Fulton; dear friends, Cheryll Wingard, David Vigil and Terri Ritchie, George Bruner, Alison and Bernie Vigil, Vera and Aaron Ghini; many loving nieces and nephews; and his companion, Fifi (who didn't know she was a cat), occupied his lap constantly, and for the last 19 years of his life, made Charlie very happy. Charlie served in the Navy for 3 1/2 years and was honorably discharged in 1946. Charlie was employed for 36 years at CF&I. We will all miss this gentle soul, and he will live in our hearts forever. Memorial service to honor Charlie will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at Montgomery & Steward, 1317 N. Main St. Please, no food or flowers.
