Charles Oliver Housman, 89, passed from this world on Feb. 7, 2016, in Pueblo, Colo. Affectionately known as Chuck, Charlie and 'Chub,' he is survived by his wife and girlfriend of 70 years, Rebecca Wigton Housman; their four sons and wives, Jon (Gloria), Robert (Colleen), Brian (Melonie) and Van (Lori); nine grandchildren, Jennifer (Casey) Kline, Cara (James) Fitzgerald, Charles, Brett, Kelsie, Annie, Sarah, Mitch and Grace Housman; and one great-grandchild, Tommy Fitzgerald. He also leaves his three siblings and their spouses, Louis (Alice) Housman, Virginia (David) Shaw and Suzy (Roger) Ruppert; and his niece and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Esther Housman; and niece, Nancy Housman.
Chuck exemplified what is most important in life, his family. His sense of humor, way with words, and quick wit were a blessing in our lives. He was a supportive listener who didn't pass judgment. We were all grateful for his sharp mind and great advice.
Chuck was a retired long-time elementary science teacher and real estate investor. He enjoyed tennis with the City Park Dawn Patrol, water skiing, being a Mason, and having coffee with his buddies for many years. Nothing gave him more joy than all of his beloved grandchildren. He will be remembered with love forever.
Burial at noon, Friday, Feb. 12, 2016, at Roselawn Cemetery followed by Celebration of Life at 1PM in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel. Online condolences, www.montgomerysteward.com.
Two of my sisters married two of Charles and Rebecca’s sons. They always treated me with respect and kindness.
We send our sympathy to the whole family. We have spent many holidays with Van and Lori. Mr. Housman raised a wonderful family, and Van is a fine example. Our thoughts are with you. Sincerely, Randy & Rosemary Snow
