Charles Ernest Lee Bennett, Jr., 77, passed away on Nov. 11, 2024. He is survived by his wife, Linda Smith-Bennett; daughters, Celeste Huling and Jennie Bennett; sister, Donna J. Walker; nephews, Joe Wilson, Jr. and Chet Walker; step-children, DJ (Maya) and Doodah (Zion); mother-in-law, Rudell Smith; sister-in-law, Angel (Zach); brother-in-law, Tony (Sandy) Smith; grandchildren, Imani Bennett, Ashton Huling and Mackenzie Huling; great-grandchildren, Ryleigh, Reign and Raylynn; step-grandchildren, Evan, Easton, and Xyrie; special friends, Albert “Fox” Neal, Gary “G-Man” Howell, Brian Steele and Charles “Car Brother” Zoorob.
Preceded in death by his parents.
Chuck was born to Charles and Louise Bennett on Jan. 24, 1947 in Pueblo, Colo. He was a proud graduate of Central High School class of 1965. He played football and track and in 1967 the US Air Force, serving two tours in Vietnam as a Crew Chief, aboard “Puff the Magic Dragon” gun ship. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Air Medal, Air Force Accommodation, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. Chuck was honorably discharged from the service, and became a switchman for D&RGW Railroad. He retired from Missouri Pacific Railroad after 34 years as an engineer.
Chuck enjoyed volunteering and was a member of Eagle’s Lodge.

Memorial service, 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2024, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel. Final resting place, Pikes Peak National Cemetery.

Sending lots of love and prayers to the family, I only had the pleasure of meeting Chuck a few times while working with Linda, but he was such a nice guy with so much love for her. That was something I noticed when he’d come to see her. Very sorry to hear of the loss and sad news of his passing.
