Carmen F. Mondragon, 97, started her journey to Heaven on June 1, 2026, 24 days short of her 98th birthday.
She was born to Claudio & Maclovia Aragon Sr. in Kiowa, NM on June 25, 1928.
Mom met dad at the age of 15 at a USO dance in Taos, NM (he was home on leave from the Army). She wrote to him the whole time he was gone. Four years later, when he got out of the Army, their courtship began. They got married December 30,1948 and were married 60 years & 11 months. They lived at the Ranch (in Raton) for a few years then moved to Pueblo.
She worked at the Pueblo Army Depot until their first daughter was born and then continued as mother & homemaker raising their children until they were grown and on their own. She and our dad loved traveling, dancing and visiting with family and friends. Her favorite pastime was talking on the phone & going to exercise class with her friends. She was a Eucharistic minister, auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary and prayed the Rosary daily. Carmen and Andy were active members of the DAV, the IOF and SRDA for many years.
Andres has been waiting for her since Nov. 24, 2009, along with their daughter Shirley who joined him April 15, 2016. Carmen is also preceded in death by her sister, two brothers, several brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law.
She leaves behind many who loved her. Her brother Claudio Aragon Jr. (Loyola). Her children, Irma (Herman Lujan), Clarence Mondragon (Susan), Arlene Cordova, Andrew Carl Mondragon, Stephanie Mondragon (Regina Pineda). Eight grandchildren: Amanda (Steve) DelNegro, Jeremy (Shaundra), Robert Jr., Aaron, Chad, Wes (Ambrosia), Jason (Ashley), Jaime (Hunter). Nineteen great-grandchildren: Elauna (Michael), Kobe (Kaitlyn), Donte (Sierra), Robert III, Gage (Lexi), Darius, Mya, Phoenix, Madison, Kadence, Savannah, Makison, Robbie & Abel, Jaxon, Kara, one great-grandson on the way, Maliki & Maddie. She loved babies and was blessed with six great-great-grandchildren: Emma, Marlee, Sonny, Hazel, Jeremy & Remi-Lynn.
She is also survived by three brothers-in-law and many nieces & nephews as well as several godchildren.
Rosary at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. on June 19, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1145 S. Aspen Rd. Interment, Roselawn Cemetery. Services will be live streamed on the St. Joseph Catholic Church FB website http://stjosephparish-pueblo.com

The greatest part of this family is that you love us so much. All the get together visits to Pueblo and Taos, Tia Carmen always wanted to see us and you all made us feel at home and loved. I am so sorry for your loss, there is nothing like your mom, especially a great special woman who gave us nothing but love and always would say to me, always know I love you and that I am your Tia.
