Carmen A. Rivas, 93, peacefully passed away Saturday, May 20, 2023. He was preceded in death of his wife of 65 years, Mary Rivas.
Carmen was born to Lorenzo and Marie Rivas on October 2, 1929, in Pueblo. Central HS Class 1948. Navy USS Moale. Retired Pueblo Depot 1981. Retired Pueblo School District #60 2010 as an educator. Carmen with his wife Mary were the voices and score keepers for Pueblo School District #60 Football (Dutch Clark Stadium) and Baseball (Runyon Field) games for nearly a decade.
Carmen was an avid golfer, active member of Elmwood Golf , PAC, Elks Lodge and the Eagles 145. Coach several men’s softball teams, Walter’s Brewery, High 5, Tasty Freeze. Founder of Pueblo Parks and Recreations Programs men’s and women’s fast pitch & slow pitch softball, men’s, and flag football leagues. Pueblo Greater Sports Hall of Fame 1999. Pueblo Softball Hall of Fame 2011. Runyon Hall of Fame 2017. Member of Runyon Field Board of directors.
Children, Cynthia A. Rivas (Tony) Frakes, Carol M. (Les) Morken, Carmine A. Rivas (Paul) Dalton, Carmen A. Rivas Jr. and Candace A. Rivas (Jason) Reeves; grandchildren, AJ Frakes, Carlie Morken, Madeline (Eric) Perri and Cameron Rivas, Catie, Sophia, Anna Reeves. One Great grandchild, Elena.
Memorial Mass, 10 a.m. Thursday, May 25, at Holy Family Parish, 2827 Lakeview Ave. Followed by reception at Giodone’s, 23344 US-50 BUS.   3. Carmen was well known and loved by so many he came in contact with through his various involvement in Pueblo. Carmen and his wonderful wife Mary were incredible and raised a great family. “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal…Love leaves a memory on one can steal”.
