Bernard William 'Bernie' Hund, Jr., 68, of Pueblo, passed away unexpectedly August 1, 2001. Survivors include his son, Bernard William 'BJ' (Melissa) Hund, III; grandsons, Bryan Richard Hund and Brett William Hund, all of Fort Lupton, Colorado; stepdaughter, Aimeé (Leroy) Atencio and grandson, Jefree Atencio, both of Pueblo West; brothers, Henry (Carol) Hund, James (Lauren) Hund, both of Pueblo, William Hund of Oakland, California and Thomas (Marianne) Hund of Albuquerque, New Mexico; sisters, Margaret (Albert) Hoody and Barbara (Douglas) Berg; and stepmother, Barbara Hund, all of Pueblo. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Louisa Hayson Hund; father, Bernard William Hund; mother, Pauline Hund; and brother, Paul Hund. Employed by CF&I Steel Corp., and Rocky Mountain Steel Mills where Bernie retired in 1994 as a roll turner after 43 years of service.Bernie's hobbies included goose hunting, skiing, automotive rebuilding and restoring, scenic drives and numerous outdoor activities. Bernie enjoyed spending time with family, friends and especially his grandsons. He was a good father and taught his children many of life's lessons. A lifelong Puebloan, he was as old-fashioned, outgoing man that friends could always count on to be there when needed. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Member of Sacred Heart Cathedral, Knights of Columbus and United Steelworkers of America. He will lie in state at the funeral home Sunday from noon until 6 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Rosary, 7:30 p.m. Monday, August 6, 2001, and Funeral Mass, 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2001, with Reverend Father Ben Bacino as Celebrant. Both services will be held at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 11th & Grand. Interment, Roselawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends at Our Lady of the Meadows Parish Hall, 23 Starling Dr., immediately following the interment.
