Barbara Jean Welch was born April 20, 1929, and died March 27, 2012, at home surrounded by her family. Lifelong resident of Pueblo. Barbara graduated from Central High School in 1947 and married Ernest Welch on April 24, 1948. She later graduated from Southern Colorado State College and worked as a caseworker for Pueblo County Social Services. Member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School in the preschool program for years. Barbara was a caregiver to her mother, mother-in-law and her aunt, Ethel Friesen. Preceded in death by her parents, Mamie and Albert Willcutt; father, Ernest Harpel; beloved sons-in-law, David Jobe and Scott DeWitt; brothers, Charles and Harold Harpel; and mother-in-law, Catherine Robson. Survived by her husband of 63 years, Ernest 'Ernie' Welch; daughters, Becky (Dave) Ahl of Colorado Springs, Nancy Welch of Pueblo and Chris (Bob) Cortez of Colorado Springs; grandchildren, Tara DeWitt of Colorado Springs, Michelle (Crade) Scott of Falcon, Amy (Craig) Bowman of Parker, Bryan (Genevieve) Cortez of Colorado Springs, Andrew Jobe of Pueblo and Julie Cortez of Colorado Springs; great-grandsons, Coben and Ryley Scott, Connor and Reese Bowman; and lifelong friend, Barbara Trevithick. The family thanks Barbara's caregivers, Marlies Burkepile and Helen Johnson. There will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service, 1 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2012, First Baptist Church, 9th and Grand. Reception to follow in the church's Judson Hall. Private inurnment, Mountain View Cemetery Chapel Mausoleum.   1. Barbara became my caseworker when my Mom passes in 1975 when I was 13yrs old. I will never forget that she was so kind, gentle, and patient with me at a very crucial time. She was instrumental in leading me to accept Jesus Christ as my Savior. Truely a wonderful woman.
