A. Grace Swinford, 93, born at home in Trinidad, Colo., on Nov. 24, 1919, to Robert and Myra McAllister, passed away Sept. 15, 2013. Preceded in death by her husband, Frank; brothers, John, Bob and Albert; and sisters, Edith, Ruth, Emma and Bertha. After meeting and marrying Frank in 1942, they lived in Denver, Colo., Whittier, Calif., La Veta, Colo., and then moved to Pueblo for their retirement years. Grace has lived in Pueblo since 1980. She was a woman who worked most of her life. Her working career included the Chamber of Commerce in Trinidad, Colo., the Veterans Administration in Washington, D.C., Ft. Logan Hospital in Colorado, the District Attorney's office in San Diego, Calif., and the University of Whittier in California. Grace loved cooking for family and friends. She spent many hours visiting friends who could no longer drive and took her homemade treats to them. She loved to read the National Geographic, spiritual books and magazines and most of all, her bible. Grace also loved music, especially classical. She played the piano and keyboard and was a graduate of the Denver Studio of Piano. A reflection of her life will be held at New Heights Baptist Church, 3304 Baltimore Ave., after church services on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013.
