Survived by devoted daughter, Diana; dedicated son-in-law, Edward; and loving son, Daniel (Janet) Brown; grandson, Craig Johnson (Joni); great-grandson, Evan Daniel Johnson (Austin); great-granddaughter, Corinne Eva Johnson; Renee Johnson; numerous nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Laura Adams Adams; friends, Dave & Marge Dudley and Bill DeMoss; and kitchen sink beautician and longtime friend, Harlean “Tinker” Hurt.

Anna was preceded in death by parents, Mike A. & Katherine A. Gergely Adams; husband, Hubert R. Brown; son, William R. Brown; brothers, Mike & Edward Adams; sisters, Helen Adams Loup  & Verna Adams Hunter; brothers-in-law, Gilbert Loup and Charles Hunter; and longtime friend & WWII Purple Heart recipient, Eugene Stuckey.

Anna’s father was a hard working coal miner and from an early age, the children learned to work hard, and be respectful.  It was an era of tough times and the children were taught not to waste.  Hubert and Anna were married on March 4th, 1947, and after living in Ottumwa, Iowa, later moved to Pueblo, Colorado in 1959.  Anna and Hubert traveled quite extensively throughout the United States and also traveled to the Netherlands to visit Ed and Diana. While there, making stops in Belgium and Germany.  After the passing of Hubert, Anna accompanied Ed and Diana to China where she enjoyed seeing the Great Wall in Beijing, and the Terracotta Soldiers in Xi’an.  Loving adventure, Anna & Diana traveled to Egypt (five hour layover in London with a quick city tour aboard a double decker bus) she enjoyed the sites of Cairo which included a camel ride at the base of the pyramids and shopping in the souk.

Anna was employed by Marge and Dave Dudley, school teachers for District 70 from 1983 to 2005.   Anna oversaw their children, Michael (Abby & children, Lyla & Luke)  and Mathew (Brittany & children Harper & Hudson) from a very early age until both graduated.  Many times Anna would be outside throwing and catching a baseball or when the boys were older, preparing lunch for a gang of teenage boys. Anna became a second grandmother.  Upon her retirement, the Dudley’s gave her a round-trip ticket to Panama again staying with her daughter.

Time spent with son, Danny, included many camping excursions and fishing trips in the family boat to Minnequa Lake, Blue Mesa, and Lake Pueblo.    These occasions also allowed time for water skiing where Anna was a slalom skier- we often told her that she was so small that she popped up on the one ski like a fart bubble in the bath tub.

Grandson, Craig, and great-grandchildren, Evan Daniel and Corinne Eva, were most important in Anna’s life. Although separated by many miles, Christmas and birthdays and other family gatherings were most enjoyable.

Anna was a member of the Moose Lodge where she helped to prepare many meals and raise money for charity.  She and Hubert bowled for many years and she continued bowling until the age of 92.  Anna and Hubert also enjoyed many years of square dancing, discontinued upon Hubert’s passing. Anna enjoyed working in her yard, planting flowers, and mowing her lawn, often twice a week.  She enjoyed crocheting, basket weaving & spent hours hand sewing  a quilt for her grandson.   When finally confined to a walker, Anna spent time on her patio  watching the school children play behind her fence and enjoying the hummingbirds at her feeders.   Anna, always a loving, caring, hardworking person, has earned her angel wings.

Caregivers, Nellie Valles and Rosenda Anaya, allowed Anna to remain in her home until November 25, 2024, (age 96), when she suffered a stroke.  They became a threesome.  Also a great thank you to Anna’s neighbors, Isiah Barrors, Rosenda & Jesus Anaya, Jennifer & Fred Armijo, and Desiree DallaGuardia, who always looked out for her safety and were there to help with any chores that needed to be done.  Along with son, Danny, they were instrumental in keeping her in her home. Hugs and respect go out to the firefighters from Station 37.  It was heartwarming to see this professional team (and our friends) come to Anna’s aid the night of her stroke.  Not only did they provide the medical help Anna needed, but they stopped by a few days later for a follow up.  Thank you just does not cover how much we appreciate them.

Special thank you to Sangre de Cristo Community Care & Joni Fair Hospice House Staff – Erin, Delia, Deb, Karen, Kayleigh, Natasha, Kimberly, Danita, Chaplains Michael and Jane.   Linda Jackson, N.P.-C and Stephanie made doctor’s visits enjoyable.

Those who may desire to honor Anna may make a donation to Sangre de Cristo Community Care, 1920 Valley Drive, Pueblo, Colorado, 81008. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium and at her request no services will be held.

  1. CandleImageAnna I saw your face and knew you use be my teacher, Freed Jr High in the 70′ s.
One student Alex Pugalliano mocked you in a very funny old lady tone of voice when you were being stern with the class and everyone was shocked 😳, Ohh Nooo, and you turned looked at him and couldn’t keep a straight face laughing and told him to stop it everyone was relieved, laughing with you. That day I learned that teachers were just like us. I am 67 and have never forgotten that day nor you.
Rest in Peace sweet dear Anna!!

  2. CandleImageAwe Annie it was a pleasure knowing you and many happy memories at the Moose Lodge that we shared for many, many years. You were always such a joy and always happy! You will be missed and unfortunate that time goes by so quickly and busy schedules that we hadn’t had the pleasure of seeing you for such a long time. May you Rest in Peace and thankful to have known you!

  3. CandleImageIt was such a blessing to have Anna as my neighbor. And be able to share her last days with her. I remember when I first moved across the street from her I seen her dragging this big ladder down her driveway to her front yard. She claimed up it and got on her roof and started cleaning out her gutters. I yelled at my husband and told him run over there and help her . He got there asked Anna to get down so he can help. She looked him with a cute smile and told him “no i dont need a man go help me so dont even ask again I csn do this on my own” i will always forever remember that day. I would tell Anna i hope when I get yo your age i csn do half of what you are doing. Anna my kids and I trully miss you. I hipe you don’t mind ill go sit on your bsck patio and watch my son play on the soccer field just like you always done. U will always have a special place in my heart. This street will never be the same without u but the memories will always stay. Thank u Dianna and Danny for sharing your mom with us and trusting me to care for her. We love you Anna fly high with the beautiful angles.

  4. I loved my mother to the moon and back and her passing left such a huge whole in my heart. I wrote her obituary and read it several times wanting it to capture her and what a wonderful person she was. However, I omitted some of the most important people in her life – her grandson, and great grandchildren – Craig and his children, Evan Daniel and Corinne Eva. She absolutely adored them and unfortunately, they lived in another state making times together not as often as she would have preferred. Anna taught Craig how to waterski – a very special time. Christmas – birthdays – all very special family events and events that brought her joy.

  5. We were just talking about Anna 2 days ago and wondering how she was doing. She was a wonderful person that will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace Anna.

  6. Our condolences and prayers to Family of Mrs. Anna Brown she was wonderful person to talk always she would say she was taking care of her yard she was so proud . She will rest in Peace also miss. Javier and Joan Quintana.

  7. Anna was a wonderful part to the Friday Nite Unknowns bowling league for many years. I always enjoyed listening to her and wished that I had her stamina. She was remarkable. I know she will be missed. May she rest in peace.
