Resided in: Pueblo, CO

Andrea “Andy” Christine Banks, 69, of Pueblo, Colo., passed away Monday, March 27, 2023, following a highly spirited, over two-year fight against pancreatic cancer. Throughout her ordeal, her faith, hope, and love of life remained uncompromised. Andy was born to Clifford and Hannah Gibbs in Pueblo on February 23, 1954. She was preceded in death by her father, Clifford Gibbs. Andy is survived by her mother, Hannah Gibbs, loving husband of 45 years Warren Banks, beloved children Danielle (Mark) Raisler, and Tyler (Cassie) Banks and grandchildren Hadley, Nixon, and Emerson “Emmy” Banks, brother George (Dee) Gibbs, sister Jeri (Clint) Smith, brothers in law Jim (Susan) Banks and Tom (Patti) Banks as well as several nieces and nephews. Andy graduated from Pueblo South High School in 1972. She earned Bachelors and Masters degrees in education from the University of Southern Colorado and Adams State University respectively. She taught in Pueblo School District 60, primarily at Minnequa Elementary School for 25 years before retiring.

Andy was a genuinely beautiful, very personable, intelligent, and life-loving person who was absolutely adored by everyone that knew her. She had many interests during her life and became quite accomplished at everything she did. Her parents started her skiing when she was just old enough to walk. She instructed skiing through her college years, taught her own children how to ski, and continued to ski through most of her adult life. While in high school, she was an active participant in competitive rodeo doing barrel racing, advanced to compete in national high school finals, and was crowned the 1972 Colorado State High School Rodeo Queen. During her adult life, Andy enjoyed many outdoor activities, including rock climbing, competitive target archery, and her most recent passion, fly fishing. She was always great at crafty skills varying from sewing to cross stitch and created many articles of clothing and keepsakes for family and friends. Above all, Andy was a wonderful, loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She will be very greatly missed by all!

It was evident how you loved life & you lived it to the fullest. That light in your eyes was slowly fading the last few months and we could see it but did not want to except it, although we didn’t want to see you suffer any longer. RIP my friend and I hope there are big fish in heaven for you to catch & release.
