Alvin R. Russell was born November 9th, 1935, in Fowler, Colorado. He departed this life on November 25th, 2011, at the age of 76. Alvin was born to the union of Ray and Ollie Russell. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents and brothers--Ted and Jess Russell. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Peggy J., and his children—Jerry (Linda) Russell, Kathy (Dale) Baughman, Rick (Dee) Russell, and Cherry (Dave) Aragon. He is survived by his brother, Floyd (Peggy) Russell, Marie (Raymond) Walters, and ten grandchildren (Chad, Brad, Zach, Szeth, Brittney, Shanda, Brock, Brandi, Justin, and Jared) and eight great grandchildren (Brendon, Kayla, Jayce, Zayden , Connor, Baylee, Kyra, Zailey) and numerous family and friends. Alvin retired from CF&I after 35 years of service in Material Handling. Alvin loved his horses and livestock and served as President of the Hillside Saddle Club. Throughout the years, Alvin enjoyed family gatherings, square dancing—and most importantly, attending livestock sales and was an excellent horseman. He attended Pueblo Christian Center where the services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Josh Richardson officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donation to Diabetes Association through Montgomery & Steward Funeral Directors, 1317 N. Main, Pueblo, CO 81003.     We would like to say “thank you” to everyone who has sent condolences, cards, flowers, and attended the Memorial Service held. The service was a real celebration of his life and we were blessed to have over 550+ in attendance. The days and weeks to come will be difficult; but, with the Lord by our side, we’ll be OK. Again, thank you-love to all.

    I can still see him driving his green flat-bed truck. He always had time to chat when I would see him around town. I loved his smile and laugh. When he did not have his cowboy hat on, I had to take a second look, it was his trademark. Pam

  12. Peggy, Jerry, Kathy, Rick, and Cherry although we have all been separated by many miles over the last 30 years I have many fond memories of the times together as our lives intertwined. When Pam called me the other night to tell me Alvin had entered eternity I felt the lost of a friend. You have our deepest sympathies and our prayers will be with you during this time of loss. I am sorry I can not make it to the service. I pray you find comfort in the arms or our Lord and Savior. Philippians 4:7 the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
