Alice Rose Ferwerda Olson, 77, born Aug. 12, 1927, in Bedford, Ohio, to Koop and Sophia Ferwerda, passed away March 2, 2005, in Pueblo, Colo. Wife of Oscar; mother of Cassandra and Raymond; grandmother of Peder, Anna and Erik Hansen, Lindsay and Nicholas Olson; sister of Ray and Fred Ferwerda; sister-in-law of Larry and Christine Lawrence of Pueblo. Preceded in death by her twin sister, Sophia Rebell. Alice graduated from Bainbridge High School, Bainbridge, Ohio, in 1944 and Ohio State University in 1949 with a teaching degree in Physical Education. She taught Physical Education at Okeefe High School in Atlanta, Georgia, for two years. Alice married Oscar E. Olson of Primero, Colo., Aug. 12, 1951. After receiving her Oscar and raising Sandy and Ray, she returned to the school system as a teacher's aide for 16 years in Pueblo School District 60. She has been active as a volunteer at Tabor Lutheran Church for 51 years and in Girl Scout for 22 years, receiving the Thanks Badge. She enjoyed tennis, camping, skiing, swimming, cribbage and bridge. Alice considered the world her family. She lived every minute of her life to the fullest and will be remembered as a friend to all.
