Karen Lynn Serracino, 53, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 1, 2008.
Born Feb. 28, 1955, and raised in Pueblo, Colo., graduated from Pueblo County High School in 1973, attended Pueblo Community College, completed cosmetology school and worked as a licensed cosmetologist in Pueblo for 24 years which included operating her own salon.
Karen loved and enjoyed her dog, Sophie, and cat, Pewter, and especially loved babysitting her special three year old friend, Kallie. She had a passion for Elvis gospel music and classical opera sung by Josh Groban and Luciano Pavarotti. Karen left behind many dear friends and family members whom loved her and appreciated her sparkling and charming, spirited personality and generous heart. Karen served our Lord Jesus Christ with every ounce of her warm and generous heart and will be greatly missed. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church of Pueblo and also attended bible fellowship at House Hold of God Bible Fellowship in Blend.
Survived by her parents, Pete and Nita Serracino; brothers, Peter V. and Gus R. Serracino; sister-in-laws, Yen Yuh and Linda Serracino; nephews and nieces, Vincent, Peter III, Christina and Jordan Serracino; uncles and aunts, James and Josephine Serracino, Gus and Virginia Serracino, Louise Benfatti, Kenneth Wolfenbarger, Betty Terrill, Harry and Carol Lewis; great aunts, Juanita Griffin and Mildred Bundy; numerous cousins; dear family members, Marie Masciotra, Rebecca Serracino; and special friends, Cathy Salazar, Ron and Charr Lopes, Carrie Roark, Joe and Jen Prusia.
Viewing from 2-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Montgomery & Steward Funeral Directors.
Funeral service, 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at Temple Baptist Church, 3030 Thatcher Ave. Interment at Roselawn Cemetery and reception to follow at Temple Baptist Church.
The Family asks that any donations be made to the American Cancer Society through Montgomery & Steward Funeral Directors, 1317 N. Main St., Pueblo, Colo. 81003.
The Family would also like to thank Parkview Hospital Oncology staff and doctors, and especially, Dr. Janet Kulik and Pastor Waudell Maple.

Dearest Serracino Family;
I can not express just how much Karen meant to me. Karen was my hair dresser for 16 years and she stole my heart with her loving soul and kindness. Karen’s heart was so full of love and joy. Karen was much more than my hair dresser, through the years we became friends. My friendship with her was one of the most wonderful experiences that I have had and I am so lucky that I had the opportunity to have her in my life. There was never a time that I left her home that we would not hug and tell each other love ya. I will never be able to replace the special place she had in my heart because there will never be another individual like Karen.

I think of Karen and recall the kindness, caring and graciousness she lived. Karen allowed me to live with her for 3 months while I found a place to live and get on my feet. We giggled often and enjoyed our paths crossing during that time. When I think of her and that time I spent in her home – it makes me smile. Anytime I hear the song that refers to “black velvet in that little boys eyes”….Karen and her love of Elvis crosses my mind. She is a constant in my life.

Dear Serracino Family,
Karen was a support to my sister Judi when she was so sick and I appreciated that. It made me so sad to read of her death. It seems like only a short time ago we were all children on Overton Road. Don and I send our deepest sympathy and sincere prayers to all of you.

Sorry to here of your loss, Karen and I as kids played together on Overton Rd/just to meet up again in adulthood at Temple. She was a dear friend and a beautiful person. We will surely miss her smiling face.
