Beverly Adele Brill, age 101, passed away October 24, 2026, at her home in Pueblo, Colorado.
Born March 29, 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Nels and Anna Backlund. She was the youngest with two older siblings; Betty Jayne and Warren. She loved learning, attending Mason Elementary and Central High. Although she did not achieve her dream of becoming the first female plumber of Omaha, she is known for many notable accomplishments.
Beverly attended Minnesota University and graduated in 1946 with a degree in Physical Therapy. After graduation, she had planned to move to Denver, but life had other plans as a therapist in Pueblo had broken their arm; leaving Saint Mary Hospital in need of a backfill. So instead of Denver, she moved to Pueblo to help with the polio epidemic. This was before the hospital merger and so she also worked at Corwin Hospital and the Curative Workshop.
During a ski trip to Leadville, she met William “Bill” John Brill and they were married a year later on December 20, 1950, at the first Presbyterian Church. They were blessed with two children, Nancy Jayne born October 9th 1952, and Eric William born April 6th 1957. Prior to the birth of Eric, she contracted polio herself and left work while she healed. She planned to return to work as a therapist, but when her employer did not ask how she was doing before asking for her return date, Bill notified them she did not have one. She then went on to enjoy being a full time stay at home mom while serving the community.
She served as an Elder of the First Presbyterian and held a number of board member positions including the YMCA, Children’s Day Nursery and Sangre de Cristo Art Center. She was a member of the Service League (now known as the Junior League) and P.E.O Chapter BQ. Beverly served as one of the few women foreman for the Pueblo Grand Jury. She was a longtime member of Greenbacks stock club and The Couples Renegades stock club. For over 50 years, she enjoyed a Thursday lunch group.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Brill and daughter, Nancy Nicoloff. She is survived by her son, Eric Brill; daughter-in-law, Janise Brill; granddaughter, Sabre Hecht; and great-granddaughter, Oakley Hecht.
At the family’s request there will be no service at this time.
