Born in: Alamosa, Colorado
Resided in: Pueblo, Colorado

Barbara Gayle Lewis was born September 2, 1947 to Cletus Rogers and Mary Rogers in Alamosa, Colorado. Gayle grew up in a small three-bedroom home with her mom, dad, and five siblings. She graduated from Alamosa high school and attended Adams State College for a short time. She met Harold Lewis from San Bernardino, California and they were eventually married in the Los Angeles Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints on September 15, 1967.

Gayle was a strong woman of faith and had a testimony of our savior, Jesus Christ. Being a stay-at-home mom gave her the ability to teach her children those principles. When her children were older, she was able to start working for Adams County school district 50 as a teacher’s aide at Vista Grande Elementary. While working there she made life-long friends with many teachers and other staff.

After retirement Gayle and her husband were able to travel and see parts of the country as well as visit their grandchildren. Harold and Gayle served as missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints in the Denver North Mission office for 18 months.

In 2018, Harold and Gayle moved to Pueblo, Colorado to be closer to family and grandkids. While in Pueblo, she made many friends and would spend time playing cards and socializing. Eventually, she became the caregiver for her husband who preceded her in death in December 2025. Gayle’s parents, Cletus and Mary Rogers, her older sister Sharon, and younger brother Barry have preceded her in death. Gayle passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026 after a brief illness. She is survived by her son Ken (Kristin), her daughter Holly (Cory), nine grandchildren, Levi (Katelyn), Zachary, Chase (Nancy), Ashly (Brian), Carson, Tanner (Savannah), Martin, Jillian, and Emily, along with  6 great grandchildren, Clara, Calvin, Remington, Maddison, Caden, and Kayson.

Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints at 1411 Fortino Blvd in Pueblo Colorado on Friday, August 14, 2026. The viewing will be at 9:00 a.m. and service will begin at 10:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest with her sweet husband at Pikes Peak National Cemetery. Online condolences, www.MontgomerySteward.com
