Resided in: Pueblo, Colorado

Kenneth Lee Ferguson, 71, went to be with the Lord, peacefully from his home, on February
5, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents C.M. and Mary Elizabeth Ferguson. Ken is
survived by his family: Children, Shaundra (Jeremy) Lujan, Kevin (Collette) Ferguson, and
Cristal Ortega- and their mother, Janet Schuerman; grandchildren, Elauna (Michael)
Martinez, Gage (Lexi) Haman, Kodie Hannula, Kadence Lujan, James Ferguson, and Henry
Ferguson; great-grandchildren, Remi-Lynn Martinez, Jeremy Haman, Sonny Martinez, Marlee
Martinez, and Emma Martinez; his brother, Ron Ferguson, and family; and his many Shirley and
Ferguson cousins.
Ken was born in Pueblo, CO. on October 15, 1954. Ken spent his public education years on
the south side of Pueblo, graduating in the South High Colt class of 1973, where he later went
on to pursue his academic interests at several institutions of higher learning- Southern Colorado
State College (Pueblo, CO) and Baptist Bible College (Springfield, MO). Ken worked most of
his adult life for the Colorado Department of Corrections, from which he retired. He enjoyed the
outdoors, hunting and fishing, and later rediscovered his love for the game of golf in the
company of his sons and grandsons. He loved to garden, even attending classes at CSU-P to
be a Master Gardener.
Ken was selfless in his devotion to his family. Ken was always there to ensure his kids never
lacked a mentor for opportunities to improve themselves, such as serving as a youth soccer
coach, a Webelos Den Leader, or a facilitator for an Odyssey of the Mind team competition. He
was a constant presence, attending his children and grandchildren’s events and competitions as
they grew up as their biggest fan. He especially enjoyed watching over and caring for his
grandchildren and great-grandchildren; family-first was his motto.

  3. Kenny, I’ve known you since we were kids and all through high school. It was a blessing to have you as my first Sgt. when I started with DOC. You were a great mentor and leader. Your kindness will never be forgotten. RIP my friend

  4. CandleImageKenny and I worked together for a long time. We laughed a lot and he made work enjoyable. Kenny was someone you could trust, a man of honor. So glad you are in the presence of Jesus.

  5. CandleImageKenny and I went to school together from 4th grade thru our senior year at Pueblo South High. We were part of the Highland Park neighborhood. I always thought of him as a gentle giant because of his height and soft-spoken ways. After so many years, we finally saw and greeted each other not too long ago. I recognized him immediately and vice versa. Farewell my friend and rest easy in our Lord’s presence.

  6. CandleImageA great man, gone before his time.
Ken was an honorable man with no skeletons to hide, someone you wanted standing by your side.

  7. CandleImageKen, I still cannot believe you are gone. We were just commenting on each others facebook posting less than a week ago, and you decided you were ready to go to your Heavenly home to prepare a home for your family to join you in the future. I will miss you messaging me, keeping my attitude in line. God Bless you and your beautiful family. I miss you old friend.

  8. CandleImageI love you grandpa! From buying us chipotle when we couldn’t drive to being our Sunday hangout stop in college. I will miss you.
