Lt. Col. (Ret.) Florencio Berumen

Lt. Col. (Ret.) Florencio Berumen, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and proud American soldier, passed away November 2, 2025, shrouded in love by family. A man of deep faith, steadfast service, and enduring love for his family, he lived his life guided by integrity, duty, and devotion.
Born (September 14, 1934) and raised in Pueblo, Colorado, Florencio was the eldest of six children born to Jose and Socorro Berumen. From an early age, he demonstrated the leadership and dedication that would define his life and career.
Florencio served his country with honor and distinction throughout a long and accomplished military career, earning numerous commendations including the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and Army Commendation Medal. His service reflected his unwavering commitment to his country and the values he held dear.
In 1965, Florencio married the love of his life, Rosemary. Together they shared 60 years of marriage built on faith, love, and partnership, raising four children who were the joy and pride of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Lucille; and his beloved wife, Rosemary. He is survived by his children, Mark Berumen, Matthew Berumen, Peggy (Dustin) Wiens, and Maureen (Todd) White; and ten cherished grandchildren—Brendan, Carter, Maura, Ashleigh, Andrew, Lucy, Allison, Caleb, Noah, and Mia. He is also survived by his siblings, Marcos (Kathleen), Leonard (Toni), Martha (Will) Herrera, and Corey Berumen.
Florencio will be remembered for his courage, humility, and quiet strength. He was an extraordinary husband, father, and grandfather whose legacy of love and service will live on in all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.

Viewing, 3 to 5 p.m. Nov. 3, 2025, in the Montgomery & Steward Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass, 10 a.m. Nov. 4, 2025, at Christ the King Church. Interment at Pikes Peak National Cemetery pending.

Those who desire may make memorials to the Spanish Peaks Community Living Center.
