June 14, 1935 – June 16, 2025
Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Veltri passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, just two days after celebrating her 90th birthday—a full and beautiful life well lived.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, John and Juanita Verna of Pueblo; her brother, John Verna; her husbands, Don Thompson III and Augustus “Gus” Veltri; and her cherished grandson, Taner Hammond.
Betty’s greatest joy was her family. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Rick (Kris) Thompson, Mike (Colleen) Thompson, Renay (Steve) Hammond, Kent (Kisi) Thompson, and Troy (Joey) Thompson; proud grandmother to Shanna (Jeremy) Ketteridge, Hayley (Derrek) Jerred, Luke (Taylor) Thompson, Nick Thompson, Brittney (Derek) Flowers, Lynsi (Jason) Sanders, Stevee Ann (Vinny) Caligaris, Trent (Gianna) Thompson, Tate (Gretta) Thompson, Rodger Stayskal, Andy (Nicole) Skube, and Tyler (Ashley) Thompson; sister-in-law, Nadene Verna; and many great-grandchildren, nephews, and several friends.
Born and raised in Pueblo, Colorado, Betty graduated from Central High School, Class of 1953. After high school, she worked for the District 60 administration office as well as an administrative assistant at Highland Park Elementary school. Her passion for antiques led her to open two beloved shops: Antique Rose and Blazing Saddle Antiques, where she poured her creativity into every detail.
Above all, Betty’s greatest pride was her family. Her love for her children and grandchildren knew no bounds, and her warmth, strength, and unwavering support will remain in their hearts forever. A beautiful soul, filled with so much love, that will be greatly missed.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers or food, the family kindly requests donations be made to your favorite charity in Betty’s memory. Online condolences, www.MontgomerySteward.com
