Francie Evans-Maytum: A Celebration of a Life Painted in Vivid Colors

April 26, 1955 ~ January 17, 2024

In the grand painting of life, each color contributes its unique shade, adding depth and beauty to the whole. Francie Evans-Maytum, born amidst the awakening colors of spring in 1955 in Pueblo, Colorado, and passing in the same nurturing soil, was like a burst of radiant colors on life’s canvas, bringing joy, creativity, and love into the lives of those around her.  Today, as we reflect on her life, a brilliant portrait of compassion and vibrancy, we bid her farewell as she blends into the eternal masterpiece of the cosmos.

Frances, a soul as luminous as the first light of dawn, was the cherished companion of her loving husband, Kenny. Together, they painted a life rich in love and shared adventures, including their shared love for the tranquility and majesty of the mountains. She is deeply loved by her brothers, Peter and Chaz, held tightly in their memories. She was the heart of her family, a guiding light of love for her son, Holland, and daughters, Eleanor and Hannah. Her spirit, a palette of warmth and affection, will continue to live on in the joyful echoes of her grandchildren, Archer and Scout. She joins her father and mother, Frank and Eleanor and sister, Susan in exploring the unknown.

Her garden was a testament to her nurturing spirit, a haven where she coaxed life from the earth, celebrating the bloom of each flower and the growth of every plant. Her passion for painting was not merely a pastime; it was an expression of her innermost self, alive with vivid dreams and boundless imagination. Frances’ art was a mirror to her soul, each brushstroke a narrative, each hue a song.

Frances’ love for cats, dogs, chickens, and birds revealed her deep bond with nature, finding beauty and joy in life’s simple wonders. Her career as a nurse was marked by the same love and kindness that made her excellent in her role, touching the lives of countless with her healing hands and compassionate heart. She worked for 15 years at CMHIP, as a charge nurse in geriatrics, then in quality support services, then finally as a lead nurse in the women’s high security forensics unit and she brought her love and light into each of those roles.

A friend to all she met, Francie had the extraordinary ability to make everyone feel valued and loved. Her presence was a comfort, a source of support and encouragement. With eyes that saw the good in all, every moment was a chance to spread warmth and kindness. Her laughter was infectious, her wisdom deep, and her love unconditional.

Though Francie’s earthly journey has end in the place where it began, her legacy lives on in the hearts she warmed, the lives she illuminated, and the art she crafted. As we say our goodbyes, let us remember her as the vibrant and shining light she was, a symbol of love, creativity, and grace.

In her memory, may we let her love for life inspire us, her kindness guide us, and her memory be a cherished treasure we hold forever in our hearts. Her spirit, now free and boundless, dances among the stars, painting the heavens with the colors of her beautiful soul.

Rest in peace, beloved Frances. You are deeply missed, forever loved, and eternally cherished.

Celebration of life, 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024, at 121 Broadway Ave.
