Born in: Pueblo, Colorado
Resided in: Pueblo, Colorado

Rose Marie Masterantonio, 94, entered her eternal life on Oct. 18, 2023. Survived by her beloved sister, Antoinette Masterantonio; close cousin, Dr. Kathy DeNiro; Godchildren, Alene, Jackie, Jenny, Aaron, Darlene, David, Gina, Angela Marie and Vera; numerous nieces, and nephews, including Dodd Mitchell (Audrey) Darin and their children, Alexa and Olivia; and by a host of many special relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her loving father and mother, Dominick and Mary; sister, Lucille; special friends, Rev. Fr. Roger Dorcy, Bobby Darin and Sandra Dee; and numerous other relatives and friends.
A lifetime Pueblo resident, Rose was a proud graduate of Central High School- Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat. She was also an avid Broncos fan and “was hoping that they would get their act together and start winning.”
Rose was a trailblazer when it came to the banking industry. She started her banking career at Minnequa Bank in 1946 immediately after graduating high school. In a noted newspaper article, it stated that “Commercial Banking was long considered a boys’ club, but Minnequa Bank was one of the first to name a woman, Rose Masterantonio, (or “Rosie”) to its commercial loan department. Ms. Masterantonio became a bank officer in 1956.” Rose retired as Senior Vice President after over 50 years in the banking industry, all at her beloved Minnequa Bank. She continued to volunteer to oversee the bank’s senior programs for additional years. She also served as President of the local chapter of the American Institution of Banking.
Rose leaves many legacies, after her father’s heart attack, she chaired the Pueblo Chapter of the American Heart Association; devoting hundreds of hours to raise funds for heart awareness. As an avid musician, she masterfully played the piano as her father played the banjo, sister Antoinette, the clarinet, and Lucille, the saxophone with their mom Mary being the family’s biggest musical fan.
Her interest in the preservation of music led her to become the counselor of the Pueblo Chaminade Music Club. A club that inspired youth to instill music in their lives.
Her life was lived in prayer for those she loved, her God, her family, and her friends. We are grateful to the many people, her “work family” at Minnequa Bank who worked alongside Rosie and gave her such fond memories to reflect on throughout the years. Also, to Dr. Jim Stjernholm, Abode Hospice staff, Lisa and the staff at Sharmar-Chateau, special caregivers Mary and Norma.
Funeral Mass, 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2023, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 11th & Grand Ave. Interment at Roselawn Cemetery. Those who desire may make memorial contributions to the Pueblo Central Foundation, the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart or to a charity of their choice in Rose’s name. The family asks those who pray the rosary to recite one in memory of Rose.

You know how special your family was to my family……I remember as a little girl my brother Sam visiting with you all on Pine Street and all the fond memories I have of those visits…it really was magical with Dad Dom playing his banjo and the girls and my brother Sam with all their musical talents…it was like a symphony!!!! Those memories will stay with me forever in my heart…. I am so heartbroken with all the losses in both our families. God Bless you, Antoinette.

  5. CandleImageDear Antoinette,
Please accept my most heartfelt condolences. Rose was a wonderful person and having known Rose and your family all of my life, it was a privilege to reconnect with Rosie in 1989 and work for her at Minnequa Bank. We shared some good years in the Commercial Loan Department and her dedication to the bank and her customers was commendable. Everything Rosie did she did with all of her heart. She always went above and beyond to assist her customers and extended many kindnesses to all. Rosie rests in peace a peace she truly deserves. She will always be remembered as a woman of faith and one that lived her faith. We can only imagine the joy she knows rejoined with your beloved parents and sister Lucille. She was welcomed into Paradise as a servant who served well on her earthly journey. She now begins her heavenly journey and we that knew and loved Rosie remember her as a woman who always prayed to have eyes that saw the best in people, a heart that forgave the worst, a mind that forgot the bad and a soul that never lost faith in God. Rest in peace Rosie.

  6. Our family, and especially our children Alex and Tessa, loved to visit with Rose, Antoinette, Lucille, and momma during Christmas time. They had the house decorated so festive, and we enjoyed their famous home made hot chocolate, with marshmallow of course. Those memories will always be there in our 💕 hearts

  7. I am so very sorry to hear of the passing of Rose. I have many fond memories of her graciously giving her time and talent in providing piano accompaniment to my clarinet solos back in the day. Rose provided dynamic leadership in keeping the Chaminade Music Club going strong in the city of Pueblo.

My thoughts and prayers are with her very attentive and loving sister Antoinette, and other surviving family members. I am sure she is now resting in heaven along with her beautiful family, and providing some wonderful piano background to her dad’s banjo talents. She will be greatly missed by all!
