Funeral Mass:

The family of Judith M. Gagliardi sadly announces her passing on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 80 years of age.
Judy, twin to Janet, was born on May 30, 1943, to John and Elizabeth (Mendini) Raye, in Weston, Colorado. She was one of seven Raye children, 6 biological and 1 a foreign exchange student honorarily adopted for a lifetime. Judy graduated from Trinidad Catholic High School. She was a homemaker, highly involved in the PTA at her children’s schools, and present at all their games and performances. She later became a Licensed Massage Therapist and Reiki master, and she owned her business “The Healing Touch.” She was wonderfully adept as both mother and healer. She was beautiful.
Judy fell in love with and married August R. Gagliardi, in Trinidad, Colorado on May 19, 1962. Together, they raised a happy family. They celebrated their 60th year wedding anniversary on May 19, 2022, one week shy of their 61st when August passed.
Judy was treasured by everyone who knew her. Deeply spiritual. As important as she was to so many people in multiple family, friend, and healer roles, her role as a child of God was the one that anchored all the others. She was tremendously kind and not always nice. She spoke candidly. She loved big and appreciated mischief. She did not “suffer fools gladly,” nor tattletales. She was trustworthy, grounded, and radiant.
She enjoyed trips to Cripple Creek to gamble and have a dry martini with her sisters, and she loved everything “whodunnit.” She read voraciously. She thought her children were perfect. She cheered loudly from the stands and proudly from the seats of concert halls. She helped raise her grandchildren who would often ask the school to call grandma first when they felt sick, because they could count on hugs, a seat on grandpa’s lap, warmth and sunshine, yellow soup with extra noodles, and buttery toast to help them “rest.”
Judy and August are survived by their children, John, Joseph, Camea, and Nicholas (Hilary) Gagliardi. They are survived by their grandchildren, Devin, Olivia, Sofia, Nico, Jude, Giuliana; and great-granddaughter, Angelina.
Survived by siblings, Elizabeth (Bill) Stanley and John (Gina) Raye; sister, Dagmar (Don) Simon of New York; brother-in-law, Snozz (Janet) Guarienti; sister-in-law, Lucy (Carl) Seese; brother-in-law, Joseph (Julie) Gagliardi; and numerous much-loved nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Preceded in death by children, August and Judy; her parents; her sisters, Roberta (Bill) Cox, Janet, and Johnabelle Micheliza; and nieces, Cady Raye and Darice Arlint; mother and father in-law, Joseph and Edith Gagliardi; brother-in-law, John Klovas; brother-in-law, Frank (LaVerne) Gagliardi; her sisters-in-law, Catherine (Anthony) Baratono and Rose (Albert) Nolan; and nephews, Jimmy and Jacky Gagliardi.

  1. Condolences to all of Judy’s family and friends. I am greatly saddened by the news of her death. I learned about it from a friend in Pueblo I Zoom with every two weeks who goes to Christ the King Church there. Until recently, I often spoke to Judy when she phoned me here in north St. Louis (MO) County. I will miss chatting with her. I am remembering her and all who mourn her at Mass and in prayer and will continue to do so. Father Bob Hagan, S. J. (I was in Trinidad 1995-2006 and in Pueblo 2006-2008. I was close to the family, especially Roberta Cox and Judy. I buried Elizabeth Raye. I baptized and confirmed Bill Cox.)
