Born in: Rocky Ford, Colorado
Resided in: Pueblo, Colorado

Betty Jean (Todd) Baker was called to her first dance in Heaven with her lifetime dancing partner on June 21, 2023, at Joni Hospice House. Betty was an only child, born at the Todd Airport in Rocky Ford, Colorado on March 25, 1933, to Doug and Hallie (Pickel) Todd. She graduated from Rocky Ford High School in 1951 and was always quite proud to tell people she was a Meloneer. At age 18, she went to work for GMAC and retired as a bookkeeper 41 years later after working in Corpus Christi, Pueblo and Colorado Springs offices.
Betty Jean and Ronald William Baker were married September 9, 1952, at Rocky Ford United Methodist Church after meeting at church camp while in high school. She followed her husband and kids around for many years as they did weekly saddle clubs, weekend gymkhanas and then cowboy polo, with a fair amount of family waterskiing as well. Betty’s favorite activity of all was dancing. She and Ron spent many a song on the dance floors at Silver Saddle and later the Pueblo Eagles Club. When they weren’t dancing, they enjoyed traveling with their camper or cruising the ocean. Once aging knees and hips made dancing a challenge, she turned her passion to making sure she kept her yard one of the most beautiful on the block even after Ron’s death in 2014. She was seen mowing her own lawn at 90 a few short weeks ago!
Betty is survived by daughter, Terri (Dave) Kitch of Rocky Ford and son, Todd Baker of Pueblo. Also survived by grandchildren Clint (Stephanie) Calli, Cody Kitch, Steven Baker and Carley Baker, two great-grandchildren Carter and Sophia Calli. As per her request cremation has occurred and there will be no service. She asked those that remember her share an act of kindness with others.
Special thanks to dear neighbors Rhett and Rene, Brenda and Kris, Tara and Joe who all became like family; Dr. Harry Keefe who cared for her and Ron for over 25 years, and especially her adopted family the last 4 weeks at Joni House. Memorials may be made to Sangre de Cristo Hospice, 1920 Valley Dr., Pueblo, CO 81008 or charity of choice.
