Gayle Grant Matthews, 86, passed away May 1, 2023. He was born Nov. 22, 1936, in Pueblo, to Mable & Vernor Matthews, who preceded him in death. Gayle served in the US Air Force for 4 years and the US Marine Corps reserve. He retired from CF&I Rail Mill after 36 years of service.
Survived by his wife of 44 years, Anna Louise “Lou“ Matthews; and sister, Carol Smaley. Also survived by several nieces and nephews; especially a special niece, Sherre Fridley, and her mother, Lee Ross. Very close neighbors will always be remembered.
Gayle’s hobbies included traveling, dancing, building and flying remote controlled planes. He also had a private pilot’s license.
Gayle loved Christmas and each year decorated the outside of the home and many years won the El Camio decorating contest. Entertaining friends and family were some of his greatest joys. He will be so missed by many friends and family.

Gayle served process for me at Pueblo DSS for many years. I loved his stories about the lengths respondents would take to avoid service. It always amuzing.
