Eugene 'Geno'Earl Wright Died unexpectedly at home in Canon City, CO, Friday, August 17, 2018. He was born March 29, 1943 in Garden City, Finney County Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond E. Wright and Lillian L. Enslow, his wife Patricia, and two sisters: Patricia A.(Enslow) Binder and Leslie Gail (Enslow) Dudley. He is survived by his two children: Susan M (Wright) Hendershot of Pierceville, KS and Brian E (Patricia) Wright of Benecia, CA. His four surviving siblings are Betty Wright Kurtz, Pueblo, Co; M. Wayne (Courtney) Enslow, Tucson, AZ; Robert E (Theresa) Wright, Canon City, CO; and Connie Rae (Wright) (Dean) Wann of Firestone, CO. He had 13 nieces and nephews, 13 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. In 1963, he was married to Rebecca Mayo of Garden city, Kansas. In the 1990s, he married Patricia Wood of Canon City Eugene attended school both in Garden City and Canon City. After high school, he served in the U.S. Navy. He held various salesman jobs; was very active in the 1960s with the Garden City volunteer fire department and in the 1970s he was employed by the Colorado Department of corrections. Gene worked actively with the Garden City Boy Scouts of America. Selling, buying, and collecting were his passion. He had his own antique/collectible/pawnshop in Canon city in the early 1970s. He continued buying selling and collecting up to the day he died. Friends and family are invited to a memorial reception, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, at Canon Royal Events Center, 523 Main St., Canon City. Donations may be made To the Canon City Humane Society, 110 Rhodes Ave., Canon City, CO 81212.
