William J. Askwig, 86, died June 3, 2017. William 'Bill' was born October 24, 1930, in Billings, Mont., one of five children to Earl and Myrtle Askwig. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served in the Korean War. For 32 years, before his retirement in 1994, he was employed as Professor of Economics and Dean of the School of Business at what is now CSU-Pueblo, where he was an inspiration to many students. Bill enjoyed hiking and mountain climbing, however, bicycling was his favorite sport. He bicycled extensively all over the United States, including riding from coast to coast during the Bikecentennial '76 event. Bill's endearing smile and wry sense of humor will be greatly missed. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Howard and Glenn (Vergie); sister, Sally (Clarence) Isakson; brother-in-law, Bruce Wiley; and mother-in-law, Betty Montes. Survived by his wife, Mona; children, Jeffrey (Verna) Askwig and Scott Askwig; stepsons, Matthew (Jessica) Clark and Darren Clark; grandchildren, J.J. Askwig and Ashley (Stephen) Irvin; step-grandchildren, Skylar and Corwin Clark; sister, Ruth Wiley; and father-in-law, Carl Montes. No viewing or services. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Dear Mona, So very sorry to learn of your loss. You and your family are in my prayers. I know you have been through a very difficult time in recent months and you did all things possible to make life easier for Bill. Just take one day at a time.
