Anita Bandell, 87, passed on December 29, 2013. Saddened daughters, Karin Elliott (Tom), Phylis Mantia Marc); sister, Carole Gold are left behind. Five grandchildren and a niece and two nephews will miss her as well. Service, 3 p.m. Friday in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel. Reception immediately following.
Anita was an origami buddy of mine when she lived in Long Beach, NY. She was a very sweet spirit and I always enjoyed just being in her presence. She always called me by a nickname she came up with, Tumbleweed. I visited her once after she moved to Colorado and she made my visit really special by showing me all her special places, including the zoo, where she was a docent and raven handler. Even her dogs made me feel welcome by insisting on sleeping with me in the middle of the night. I still enjoy the beaded earrings we made with her daughter, Karin, while I was visiting.
Her passing is a sad occassion and the world will be a little diminished by her absence but I know her spirt will soar and her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and her friends.
I always loved this photo of Anita . . .
