Robert F. Steele Jr., 79, passed away April 28, 2024. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium.
I have known Bob since my time working as a Pharmacy Technician at the Safeway Pharmacy in Pueblo West. We connected over our love of orchids, and I am blessed to still have a few cuttings from his collection that are thriving. Come to find out we had much more in common than I thought. I was born and raised in Raton New Mexico so we chatted often about the old La Mesa Park and how he would tend and even sometimes race the horses. I just lived down the street from that park and my father worked there when he was young. I was blessed to have been invited into Bob’s home in PW where I absolutely fell head over heels with his atrium/greenhouse that was attached to his home. It definitely allowed me to dream bigger for myself and I thank Bob for that. I catch myself looking back at photos from that day and reminiscing about the lovely conversation I had with Bob.
I do and will miss him dearly!
I just learned of Bobby’s passing. We were such good friends in high school! He was smart, talented, and kind to everyone, and I’m quite sure he stayed that way his whole life. The world was definitely a better place because he was in it!
Thank you for your love of nature that you shared with all your neighbors, including my grandparents, Lee and Audra Hirsch. Our family is saddened by your passing.
Bob was a good friend and wonderful next door neighbor to us for many years. He was a wonderful person in general!! Our deepest sympathies to the family. May you have peace.
So saddened to hear of Bobby’s passing. Like Dan said above, I too grew up and went to Keating and Central with Bobby and were very close friends, especially when it came to watching the ducks come and go from the pond below his house. We all loved Bobby even though we could never get him to come to the class reunions. Condolences to his family and rest in peace my friend.
My sincerest condolences to Bobbys family. I have known Bobby since our Keating days. We were close friends through High school and in , our years of teaching. Eventhough I Lived in Denver, we stayed connected. He was a smart, talented and beautiful person . You will be missed, my friend. I won’t forget you!
I have known Bob for over 30 years, mainly through our orchid growing hobby. Bob was extremely knowledgable about orchids and taught me so very much. He owned over 300 orchids at one time. I miss him dearly. He was a good man.
