Karen Lynn Kaufman

To the family and friends of Karen Kaufman,
It is with the greatest sadness that I learned of Karen’s passing. I am so sorry for your loss and hope her memories will bring you love and laughter. Karen was an amazing friend, an incredibly talented artist, a quick wit, a curious mind, an animal lover, a hard worker and a fearless adventurer. We shared many adventures through the years and spoke for hours and hours on the phone and through text messages. Karen loved her family. The recent loss of her father hit her especially hard. When Karen lived in Alaska, one of her jobs was working as an artist for the Alaskan Mint. She designed a series of beautiful coins that were minted in sliver and gold. She illustrated a children’s book and designed a 3D kids playground featuring arctic animals. Her art works were stunning and grace the walls of many establishments and homes including mine. Karen was a kind and compassionate woman. She could make me laugh and cry and laugh again in the shortest spans of conversation. We would laugh sometimes until we couldn’t catch our breath. Animals loved Karen, and some of her fondest memories were of random animal encounters. She loved my doggies and they loved her. She never failed to ask about them and would speak to them through the phone. We shared lots of pictures, calling it bird of the day or animal of the day. She would call and say, so you want to hear a story??? Or, tell me a story, then we’d launch into fantastic recollections. Karen had an affinity for raptor’s and we would share our sightings. Even better was when we got a photo to share. Wild turkeys, roadrunners, ravens, hawks, eagles hummingbirds. Karen loved the hummingbirds. When I see one now I will always think of her. I’m going to miss her so much. In the shortest time since Karen left this earthly plane, there have been dozens of times I have wanted to text or call, which made me realize just how big a part of my life that Karen was and how much she will be missed. Rest in Power and Peace Karen. I’ll never forget you and will miss you forever. One of my favorite memories is sitting with you on the banks of the Copper River. What grand adventures we shared! Forty plus years was not enough, you were a good friend. You are in the Quiet place now. I hope you found the peace you spent your whole life seeking. At last, all the answers are There. Rest in Power and Peace my friend.

I am saddened by this news. Karen and I went to school together from Ben Franklin through East High. She was always a bright light and one of the kindest and classiest people I knew. My condolences to the family. May she rest in peace and her light shine on through her family and friends.

I am so sorry to hear of Karen’s passing-I have so many fun memories of all of us at PCC-long swim meats, overnight pool parties and of course her larger-than-life personality!

My condolences to the Kaufman family. Karen and I shared many adventures together and I regret having lost contact thru the years. She was a fantastic artist and always thinking outside of all the boxes. May she rest in peace.

Karen was a schoolmate of mine from K-12. Ben Franklin, Heaton and East class of 82. I will always remember her big personality! A truly talented artist and good person. My sympathy goes out to the Kaufman family.

I was so sorry to learn of Karen’s passing. My mother had an incredible drawing of an eagle she did at the top of our stairs. I always admired it. My deep sympathies to Kelley and Chris.

Thank you for all the amazing art and music you introduced me to. You were a wonderful friend and had a huge impact on me growing up. I love you, Margot
