Celebration of Life:

Jeffry Paul Salerno, 72, also known as “Grandpa Jeff”, passed away on January 25,2025. He passed away at home in Pueblo West, with his wife and children by his side. Although he fought fiercely, Jeff lost his 10-month battle to Cholangiocarcinoma cancer.

Jeff is survived by his wife of 47 years, Cris; his sons, Nic, Anthony, Joshua (Amanda); grandkids, Dominic, Cooper, Taylor (Toots), Luke and Jenni; and his “bonus grandson” Caden Hart; and his two golden retriever puppies Moose and Bear.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Pauline Salerno; his brother, Randy Salerno; his in-laws Ray and Pauline McNeely; brothers-in-law, Ray Gallen and Jimmy McNeely; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Jeff was born on May 22, 1952, in San Francisco, California. He graduated from Ygnacio Valley High School in Concord, California, in 1970 and remained in touch with those same high school friends throughout the years.

Jeff worked in the Utah and Colorado coal mines for 23 years. After moving to Pueblo, he worked at EVRAZ for 20 years, where he retired.  He had found his dream retirement job as an RSO at the Pueblo West Sportsman Association.

After his retirement from EVRAZ Jeff and Cris spent several years camping in Arizona during the winters, going on cruises and spending time with their cousins in Florida. Jeff and Cris absolutely loved their lives. Jeff will always be remembered for the Christmas light displays he put on every year.

More than anything he loved his family. He cherished going on camping trips with his sons, friends, grandsons, granddaughters, nieces and nephews. He was always proud watching his sons and grandsons play sports. He enjoyed watching Taylor play flag football and was looking forward to her softball journey.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2025, in the Montgomery & Steward Funeral Chapel. A reception with Spirits and Snacks will be held following the service. The family would be honored if you would bring or send your favorite memory of Jeff to Cris@CrisSalerno.com

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Jeff’s memory be made to Pueblo County 4-H Shooting Sports at 701 Court Street, Suite C, Pueblo, CO 81003.

  1. Just wanting to let and your family know that I’m thinking of you all during this sad time. I wish we’d had more time to spend together, but have warm memories of our get – togethers . My Dad (and I) thought the world of his sister, Jeff’s Mom, Aunt Pauline and we kids did lots of playing and having good times together.
    Take care of yourselves.

  2. CandleImageI consider Cris, Jeff’s wife, one of the most wonderful friends I’ve had. I didnt know Jeff well but I’m so inspired by how Cris stuck by him through every single step of the way. 47 years of marriage??? That’s got to be a record test days. I’ve heard nothing but good things about Jeff, bless his soul.

  3. Some people just make you feel better when you’re around them. They are sunshine to your soul and medicine for your mind. Jeff, you will be missed

  4. CandleImageStill shocked and saddened, but so grateful our family was fortunate enough to meet and become friends. Jeff was a genuinely great guy who quickly became like a grandpa to our kids. He had a way of making people feel welcome, always had a smile, a quick joke, and a positive attitude that could brightened your day. His upbeat spirit and easygoing nature made an impact on our family, and we’re grateful for the time we had with him. He’ll be missed, but his memory with us will carry on.

  5. CandleImageJeff, you and Cris have been such a light for our family. I cherish the times that Van ran to the dog parties to hang out with you, and crawling through your dog door. Hanging out in your backyard and feeling like I was with family. I’m so thankful that our paths crossed and your memory will always live with our family.

  6. CandleImageWe will always remember Jeff going out of his way to say hello and having a smile. Also, he was amazing with his gift of carpentry! His patriotic love for the United States of America was evident with his daily display of the American flag in his front yard. He will be missed but will be truly remembered! God bless all of the family but we have the best Angel looking over us!❤️

  7. Rest in Peace Jeff, you were always so helpful whenever we needed anything done at the office and a great husband to my best friend Cris. You will be missed! 🙏
