In Loving Memory of
Jeanne Marie Werth
Jeanne Marie Werth, age 69, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in WaKeeney, Kansas, and graduated from Trego County High School in 1975. That same year, she married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, James. Together, they raised four daughters and a life to be proud of.
Jeanne was a woman of quiet strength who gave her whole heart to her family. Alongside James, she created a home filled with love, laughter, unwavering support, and a deep faith in God that will carry their family forward for generations. She took great pride in her daughters and found endless joy in her grandchildren and their accomplishments.
Jeanne developed a strong relationship with her parish family at St. Paul the Apostle in Pueblo West. You could find her ushering at the 7:30 am Mass most Sunday mornings.  She also taught religious education classes when her daughters and grandchildren were receiving their Sacrament of First Reconciliation and Eucharist.
Jeanne’s hard work, determination, and leadership carried her through a successful career at McDonnell Douglas, Boeing, and United Launch Alliance, where she rose through the ranks and eventually retired from a management position. She took great pride in the career she built.
In her free time, Jeanne found joy in camping, painting, crafting, baking, sewing, fishing, and she especially loved preparing incredible meals for her family. Her meatballs were award-winning, and her sourdough starter had just celebrated its first birthday. Jeanne also had a love for travel, and a life-changing trip to Italy with her family three years ago brought her countless cherished memories and drew her even closer to her Catholic faith. Her incredible spirit and zest for life was inspiring to all around her.
Jeanne is survived by her husband, James Werth of Pueblo West, Colorado; her daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Steve Drew of Las Vegas, Nevada; Andrea and Jeremy Alvarez of Pueblo, Colorado; Jamie and Jason Wunneburger of Richland, Washington; and Ashley and Jermey Martin of Richland, Washington. She was an incredible grandmother and is lovingly remembered by her ten grandchildren: Kaleb, Madeline, James, Amelia, Clara, Stella, Jack, Alexandra, Hunter, and Isla, all of whom adored her.
She is also survived by her mother, Jackie Steckline of Ogallah, Kansas; her siblings, Darryl Steckline of Ogallah, Kansas; Sandy and Kevin Bittel of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; Brenda and Mike Zemanick of Inman, South Carolina; Ron and Cynthia Steckline of Claremore, Oklahoma; Lori and Ray Dechant of Dodge City, Kansas; LaVon and Tony Wagoner of Paola, Kansas; and Amy and Justin Choitz of Hays, Kansas; her mother-in-law, Cordula Werth of Park, Kansas; and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her daughter, Emily; her grandson, Joshua Drew; her nephew, Curtis Dechant; her father, Leroy Steckline; her sister-in-law, Karen Harvey; and her father-in-law, Edward Werth.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 29 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul the Apostle in Pueblo West, Colorado. Burial will take place on May 30 at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Collyer, Kansas.

Guestbook

  1. CandleImageJeanne was such a kind and fun person. I’m forever thankful for all she and her family did for our family growing up. Whether it was letting me stay the night a couple nights a week while my mom was in nursing school/working swing shifts, the fun times after school, taking us to soccer practice, and just regular hangouts with Ashley. She always made us feel welcome, made amazing meals (I loved her chicken and dumpling soup), and there was always lots of laughter. She will be missed, but I know her legacy will be carried through her family. Praying for comfort for you all. Rest easy Jeanne.

  2. CandleImageI met Jeanne at a soccer game. I didn’t know her well, but she had a light and warmth about her. She always had a smile and her kindness was beautiful. This is something that will live on in her daughters and grandchildren and those of us that were fortunate to have met her.

May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; The rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

  7. CandleImageAndrea, that is the most beautiful and serene picture of your mother. She spent her life raising strong children. You may not be able to hug her, but you can always talk to her when you’re sad or need advice. We love you and are here for you anytime of the day or night.
We love you! Uncle Mark and Aunty Bernie

  8. I remember moving to NY and being so upset moving away from everyone we knew and then we meet The Werth Family… Jeanne made us feel so welcomed and we have some great memories!! Sending our love and deepest sympathy

  9. Jeanne, you have been a wonderful Wife, Mother, Aunt, Woman and all around amazing person. You have left us far too soon and so unexpectedly. I pray that you are at peace and no longer in pain. You are Loved and missed by so many of whom had the opportunity to be in your presence and feel the warmth you brought to the world. Words cannot express the sadness we all feel at this moment. But we will do as best we possibly can to take solace and gratitude knowing that you are watching over and protecting your Family and Loved Ones forever and always. Rest peacefully Jeanne.

  10. CandleImageQue Dios la reciva en su Gloria eterna y le otorgue el descanso eterno, en nuestras oraciones Estara Ella y su familia.
    Love from the Petays Family.
