Eloy Lorenzo Valdez, 86, passed away on Friday, Nov. 3, 2023, in Pueblo, Colorado. He was born on April 10, 1937, to John and Amelia (Sanchez) Valdez who preceded him in death; as well as his twin children, John and Mary; and brother, Andrew (Inez). A native of Huerfano County, he settled in Pueblo where he met the love of his life. Married for 65 years, he is survived by his wife, Anita (Lopez). He proudly watched their three sons, Michael (Terri), Mark (Carolyn), and Matthew (Theresa), graduate from CU and USC. He is also survived by his brothers, Ben (Kathy – deceased), and John (Eve); and sister, Linda (Del); along with legions of aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Eloy supported his family working at CF&I, separated by a stint at the Pueblo Army Depot. Eloy also proudly served his country in the Colorado National Guard. He retired from the Department of Defence to enjoy fishing with his sons, making salsa for and visiting with family, singing in church, listening to mariachi music, reading military history, and watching his beloved Colorado Buffaloes, Rockies, and Broncos. He was much admired and loved and will be greatly missed.
