Grand Rapids, Michigan
Resided in:

Arthur “Art” Tubergen, 86 passed away peacefully in his home on Feb. 25 2025, and is now with his Heavenly Father and his wife, who he missed so much.
He was born in Grand Rapids, Mich. to Henry “Hank” Tubergen and Dorothy Bos. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pat; sisters, Eleanor, Elaine, and Kaye; and brothers, Fred and Bern.
Art grew up in Michigan and was the fourth of eight children. He worked in a celery plant and helped at the family’s meat market.
He didn’t care much for school and has many stories of his mom chasing him up the hill with a broom so he’d go to school that day. In 1957, he decided to join the U.S. Army. He was a clerk, medic, and ambulance driver while stationed in Fort Chaffee, Germany, and Fort Carson.
While at Fort Carson, he and a friend traveled to the Pueblo area and he met Pat Doolin. They were married in March 1960. Art left the military and moved to the Doolin farm in Boone. He worked at Lee’s Truck Stop for a short time and helped his father and mother-in-law, Archie and Verna with the farming and dairy. After Verna passed away he took over.
Three daughters were also raised on the farm. In the late 1970’s, he was a big fan of CB radios and was known as Terra Tiger. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and having coffee with his friends.
In 2010, Art joined the West Assembly of God Church in Fowler and had been faithful ever since and loved his church family. He also had a special place in his heart for his sister, Sher, who called regularly.
His saying when times were tough was, “Life is Good!”
He is survived by his daughters, Wanda (Ed) Bonjour, Marsha (Cesar) Salais, and Sandy (Kriss) Childress; grandchildren, Katie Ynostroza, Sabian Salais, Sabastian Salais, and Abigail Childress; and one great-grandson, Owen Ynostroza.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2025, at West Assembly of God, 406 W. Eugene Ave. in Fowler. Interment in Fowler Cemetery.
